Welcome to Por Vida Academy Charter High School, an academically acceptable, open enrollment public charter school.  It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to our website and school.  Por Vida Academy has been serving students in the Southside of San Antonio, Texas for over 80 years.  We have been a private school for girls, a co-ed private school for second chance students, and finally an open enrollment public charter high school for at-risk youth.  As one of the states' original charters, Por Vida has seen many changes in the charter movement in the state and the country.  However, we have remained committed to assist young people in obtaining a quality education regardless of their academic or social background.  We strive each day to ensure that Por Vida is a safe haven for our students.  Our staff is devoted to providing our students an environment that not only enhances their academic abilities, but offers them a safe and nurturing setting to discover themselves in their journey through adolescence into adulthood.   With a maximum enrollment of 200 students our staff is able to connect with each student personally.  This personal connection is vital to the success of our students and school.  We pride ourselves in the family environment between Por Vida students and staff, and work tirelessly to provide all that is necessary for our students' to succeed.
