Principal

Dear Por Vida Academy Families, Students, and Community,

As the Principal of Por Vida Academy Charter High School, I am honored to continue serving this exceptional community. Now entering my fourth year in this role, I remain deeply committed to providing your children with a top-tier education in a safe, caring, and inclusive environment.

My journey with PVA began as an English teacher and volleyball coach, and I have had the privilege of serving our students in many capacities over the years, including History Teacher, Reading/Dyslexia Specialist, and First-Year Teacher Mentor. These experiences, both in and out of the classroom, have shaped my leadership and deepened my connection to our school family. While I’ve always found purpose in teaching, it is in my role as Principal where I’ve felt the most fulfillment. I value the opportunity to work alongside our incredible educators while staying closely connected to our students' learning and growth.

Over the past few years, I’ve had the opportunity to listen and learn from our staff, students, and families, and I’m proud of the progress we’ve made together. My goal remains the same: to uphold the tradition of excellence at Por Vida Academy while continuing to find new and innovative ways to support our students and strengthen communication with families and community partners.

On a personal note, I’ve called San Antonio home for nearly a decade and am a proud University of Texas at San Antonio alum. Go Roadrunners! I am also in the final year of my doctoral program in Educational Leadership at Lamar University. Go Cardinals! I believe education is a lifelong journey, and every year, I grow by learning from our students, staff, and families. Most importantly, students remain at the heart of every decision we make. I strongly believe that the partnership between home and school is key to student success, and I encourage you to stay engaged and involved throughout the year.

Thank you for your continued support. I look forward to another incredible year together and can’t wait to see all that our students will accomplish.

Warm Regards,

Mariza Loredo
