imagethree.pngBlessed Sacrament Academy Second Chance High School, Inc. was incorporated August 9, 1996. A certificate of amendment was issued February 1, 2001 to reflect the name change to PorVida, Inc. (PorVida). Por Vida, Inc. operates the following programs: PorVida Academy (the High School), Corpus Christi Academy, a Day Treatment Program, and the Juvenile Justice Academy (the Academy). The Academy is a non-charter school activity.

The High School provides an alternative high school diploma program to students who did not thrive in the normal high school setting or have returned for a high school diploma after entering the work force. The Corpus Christi Academy is a college prep high school preparing students to enter into a University immediately following high school graduation. The High School and the Corpus Christi Academy both operate under an open enrollment charter granted by the Texas State Board of Education. The charterwas renewed on March 30,2001 with a ten-year contract and a fifth-year review. The High School and the Corpus Christi Academy are part of the public school system of the State of Texas and are entitled to distribution from the State's available school fund. The High School and the Corpus Christi Academy do not have the authority to impose taxes or charge tuition.

The Day Treatment Program is operated in conjunction with Bexar County (the County). Students enrolled in the Day Treatment Program are at-risk students who have been withdrawn from public school and enrolled in the Day Treatment Program as Por Vida charter students. These students receive an education from Por Vida instructional staff and treatment and counseling from the County. The Academy is also operated in conjunction with the County. Students enrolled in the Academy are at-risk students who are still enrolled in public schools; however, these students have been referred to the Academy by public school or court order and are not considered Por Vida charter students.
